I'm not sure what I like the most: the autumn splendor, the unique shops and eateries, the incredible natural wonders waiting just minutes away ... all of it is so very dreamy, and Wilburton is a dreamlike town.

10. October - Talihina

Talihina is a tiny town nestled in the mountains of southern Oklahoma that’s the perfect place to relax. It’s surrounded by astounding beauty, secluded from city life, and known as Oklahoma’s last frontier. It’s widely known as the gateway city to The Talimena Scenic Byway – the most breathtaking drive in the state – and if you’ve never visited this unique place, you’re missing out. The surrounding mountains are full of hiking trails that are not overly crowded. You could set out all day and only run into a few people. Overnight accommodations range from tepees to tents to cabins. There are several lovely B&Bs and the famous Buffalo Creek Guest Ranch.

11. November - Guthrie

Step back during the holiday season in the charming town of Guthrie, Oklahoma. For over 35 years, Guthrie has been putting on an old-fashioned Christmas celebration reminiscent of the Territorial period. The Victorian architecture of the town, along with the celebration’s festivities and decorations, make Guthrie’s Territorial Christmas Celebrations one of the best holiday events in the state. The event starts in November, so it's a great month to experience this magical town decorated in an old-fashioned way.

12. December - Sulphur

Sulphur is a quaint and cozy town that goes all out for Christmas with lights and decorations. They were voted the best Christmas town in Oklahoma in 2017 by Cheapism.com, so if you're looking for a place to visit during the holiday season, this is your town.
