Few People Know One Of Oklahoma’s Most Popular Swimming Holes Is Hiding A Dark And Terrifying Secret

Every summer people flock to Turner Falls Park to enjoy a beautiful swimming hole as well as the largest waterfall in the state. But few people know that this popular spot can be dangerous due to its currents and is one of the top drowning spots in the state. It can still be loads of fun, but keep in mind that precautions should be taken when visiting.

Turner Falls Park is located in Davis and is run by the city. It is home to the largest waterfall in the state and during the summer months, you can swim in the waterfall section and the swimming hole next to it.

The waterfall pool is around 15-18 feet deep and can be even deeper if it has rained recently. The water temp can get up to 80 degrees in the summer, but it comes out of the ground at 60 degrees.

The swimming area next to the waterfall is called Blue Hole Park and has a diving board and slide. Both swimming areas have a current and people can get caught up in them, so it's very important that you know how to swim or wear a life jacket.

Unfortunately, since 2016, 11 people have died in Turner Falls Park, four of whom were in 2019 when the city didn't hire any lifeguards.

They have changed some rules since then and now require all guests ages 12 and under to wear a life jacket. It can still be a fun place to visit with the family, just be sure everyone wears a life jacket.

Another dangerous thing to watch out for is the slippery rocks. Honey Creek is located in the park and is another fun swimming area to check out. Just make sure to use caution and wear shoes when walking around. Most importantly, watch out for everyone in your group especially those who can't swim.
