With A Farmer’s Market, Weekly Music, And Seasonal Festival, There’s Nothing Like A Summer Weekend In This New York Town
Kingston in the Hudson Valley is a charming town with rich history, vibrant culture, and great summer activities.
There are a lot of charming small towns to explore in the Hudson Valley of New York, but if you are looking for a great summer day trip in the Hudson Valley, Kingston should be at the top of your list. It's small, approachable town by the river that is nonetheless packed with all sorts of great culture and history—it was even the first capital of New York, way back in 1777. If you want to know more about the town, keep reading below.
The Kingston Farmer’s Market runs all year, but is especially vibrant in the summer. It runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features an impressive list of vendors.
At the market, you can get everything from artisan goods to beer and wine to a nice variety of ready-to-eat food. There is also, of course, a great selection of locally-sourced produce and meat.
Fancy a bit of music? The venue Tubby's books a world class list of artists, all in an intimate environment. You don't have to go to Brooklyn to hear great, cutting edge music—Tubby's has you covered.
Tubby's also has a fantastic selection of food and drink, so you can fill up while you rock out.
If you are looking for a fun festival to attend, this Saturday, the Kingston Midtown Arts District presents their 9th annual Celebration of the Arts Expo.
The expo features a variety of free workshops and art demonstrations. All ages are welcome.
Kingston is a fun and arty New York getaway, and it's especially great in the summer. But don't take our word for it. Make the trip and find out for yourself. And while you are in Kingston, you should consider dining at the historic Hoffman House, which was built all the way back in 1679. And if you feel like going to a book store where you can also have a drink or two, Kingston is the home of Rough Draft Bar & Books. And if you need a place to stay while you are in town, we recommend the Hampton Inn Kingston.
