The Sweetest Road Trip in New Hampshire Takes You to 6 Old School Chocolate Shops

Explore some of the best chocolate shops in New Hampshire through a delightful road trip.

Whether it's the holidays that bring out your sweet tooth or if it's more of a year-round affliction, you'll be happy to know that there are plenty of places in New Hampshire to satisfy that craving. We particularly love the many chocolate shops that can be found here. To enjoy them, we suggest making a day of it by hopping in the car and road-tripping to some of the best New Hampshire chocolates! Here is a complete map and driving directions—you can hop on the tour from your own starting point.

1. Chutters, Littleton

This special spot has been delighting locals and visitors since the 19th century! Guinness World Records calls this the "World's Longest Candy Counter" and you'll be amazed at all the sugary, chocolatey sweets it holds! Bring your sweet tooth—you're gonna need it! Find one of the best candy stores in New Hampshire at 43 Main St, Littleton.

2. Bavarian Chocolate Haus, North Conway

This wonderful store could sell anything and we'd still want to visit just to walk into this quirky old house! But, lucky for us they actually hold some of the best chocolate in New Hampshire. This German spot in the White Mountains offers hand-dipped chocolate and delicious hot fudge and, believe me, you'll want to try it all! Find them at 2483 White Mountain Highway, North Conway.

3. The Old Country Store and Museum, Moultonborough

This shop has the distinction of being one of the oldest surviving businesses in America - and boy, are we glad they're still around. While you can find plenty of general store-type merchandise, we recommend stopping in for their candy and chocolate supply! Visit them at 1011 Whittier Hwy, Moultonborough.

4. Granite State Candy Shoppe, Concord

This old-fashioned candy shop has been in operation since 1927! Over all those years, they've perfected the art of chocolate. If you're looking for some decadent New Hampshire chocolates, but they also make a mean maple candy! Check them out at 13 Warren St., Concord.

5. Van Otis Chocolates, Manchester

Van Otis Chocolates has been satisfying sweet teeth (sweet tooths?) for over 85 years! During that time they've created a shop that's worth as many trips as you can make. Time your visit with one of their chocolate-making classes and be sure to take one of their factory tours. They're located at 341 Elm St., Manchester.

6. Pearls Candy & Nuts, Windham

Vintage candy, old-fashioned confections, and lots of heart make this place a must-stop. You'll find walls of portioned chocolate treats along with fun candies from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. You can find them at 58 Range Rd, Windham.

By the time you’ve made your final stop in Windham, you’ll understand why this is truly the sweetest road trip in New Hampshire. From the record-breaking candy counter at Chutters to the handcrafted European-style treats at Bavarian Chocolate Haus, each destination offers its own delicious personality.

This isn’t just a chocolate crawl, it’s a flavorful tour through small-town Main Streets, White Mountain scenery, and generations of craftsmanship. Whether you’re hunting for handcrafted truffles or childhood favorites you haven’t seen in decades, this trip delivers it all. Feeling inspired?
