10 Places In New Hampshire That Are Better Than Anywhere Else In The Country

There's no better time to stop and appreciate New Hampshire than when the leaves begin to fall and winter is on its way. While summer can't be beat, there's just something about winter and snow here in the Granite State that makes it fun to reflect on what makes life here so wonderful. So, no matter the season here are some of the places in New Hampshire that are better than anywhere else in America.

1. Alton Bay Seaplane Base and Ice Runway, Lake Winnipesaukee

During the summer 50 seaplanes a month land on this section of Lake Winnipesaukee, but the winter is when things really pick up. About 100 planes per day come from all over the region to land on the ice and this is one of the only places in the country where it can be done! 2. The Waterfall Loop Trail, Randolph

This incredible hike will take you to not just one incredible waterfall, but three! The route is gorgeous, and the three-mile route is fairly easy as well. There are multiple routes to take, so do it over and over for a different experience each time.

3. Sculptured Rocks Natural Area, Groton

Head to Sculptured Rocks Geologic Site for some of the most incredible views in America. The area is comprised of 227 acres of smooth, natural rock created by the Cockermouth River during the last ice age. 4. A Volcanic Lake, The Ossipee Mountains

The Ossipee Mountains are more than just a beautiful place to explore the nature in New Hampshire. They also happened to be formed by a huge volcanic eruption 200 million years ago. The volcanic blast was about 10 times that of Mount St. Helen and it blew the top off the New Hampshire volcano. Today, we have the Ossipee Mountains as a result.

5. Mount Magalloway Trail, Lake Francis State Park

The lesser-known Lake Francis State Park is home to a wonderful little hike that leads to some incredible views. That's what's so great about the Granite State - even our smaller hikes reveal sights that you won't find anywhere else. The route s just over 2 miles out and back, making this an fairly easy commitment as well.

6. Hunt Castle, Rindge
