Vincent Van Doughnut - 40 N. Central Ave., Clayton
The people at Vincent Van Doughnuts are not afraid to play with their food. Come in for a classic glazed or try something unique like lemon-lavender. Stop by during holidays and catch some beautiful and festively decorated treats! They now have two St. Louis locations, so if your favorite flavor is sold out you can try again at 1072 Tower Grove Ave.
World's Fair Donuts - 1904 S. Vandeventer Ave., St. Louis
Mom and Pop shops are arguably the best places to find amazing donuts. Terry and Peggy own and operate World's Fair Donuts and are churning out some of the best donuts in St. Louis. This no-frills shop's claim to fame is the apple fritter but you certainly can't go wrong with the glazed.
Strange Donuts - 2709 Sutton Blvd. St. Louis
In the mood for something a bit more...strange. Well look no further than Strange Donuts in the Maplewood neighborhood of St. Louis. These guys are always pushing the donut boundaries with flavors like gooey butter cake, strawberry margarita, or the majestic fat baby (pictured above). Open every day and late so you can always fill your cravings here.
Harold's Doughnuts - 114 S. 9th St., Columbia
With classic flavors and a fun atmosphere, it's no wonder Harold's sells out on most days. Try the red velvet cake donut while they last. Be sure to leave you mark on the chalk wall and let everyone know your favorite flavor.
Donut King - 2320 Armour Rd., Kansas City
Donut King may look like some regular donut shop in a strip mall but don't let their exterior fool you. You're going to need a donut after that long drive down I-70. They are making some of the best cake donuts around. Plus they don't skimp on the icing and sprinkles.
LaMar's Donuts and Coffee - 3395 Main St., Kansas City
LaMar's is a KCMO original. Their first location was a converted gas station on Linwood Blvd. Now LaMar's is multi-state donut making operation with many Kansas City locations. Go for a classic glazed first and get a box for the drive back.
