Travel To This Tiny Missouri Town For A World Class Festival
Kimmswick's Apple Butter Festival is a popular annual event featuring vendors, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
The City of Kimmswick often makes it on our list of small towns worth a visit. Though small in size, residents bring the party when it comes to their annual festivals, which include Strawberry Festival in the summer and Apple Butter Festival in the fall. Thousands of Missourians and people from other neighboring states make the trip for this fantastic event. All just for apple butter? Well, pretty much. But there's also a whole lot more to do at the fest as well! Check it out below.
Each year the City of Kimmswick shuts down car traffic inside the village to make room for Apple Butter Festival and allow visitors to roam freely about on foot.
Hundreds of vendors set up shop to display their crafts.
Thanks to a free app called Palaroo, you can navigate through all 500 vendors using your phone.
Not only can you purchase fresh homemade apple butter, but you can also see how it's made! The Kimmswick Historical Society churns apple butter under the pavilion both days of the festival.
Choose from a variety of butters and jams. Wow your guests at Thanksgiving, give them as gifts or enjoy the jam and butter all to yourself.
The chainsaw wood carving stand is another exciting vendor to watch as they craft one-of-a-kind gifts before your very eyes.
Feel free to bring the kids with you! Apple Butter Festival is family-friendly and features train rides and games for the kiddos.
Almost 100,000 people attended last year! That's pretty impressive knowing that the population of Kimmswick is only 158. I recommend arriving early on a Sunday, which tends to be their less packed day.
For live entertainment, delicious food and one-of-a-kind crafts and gifts, Apple Butter Festival is the place to go this fall. The festival takes place Saturday, October 29th and Sunday, October 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, check them out on Facebook.
