Admission fees, especially for families, can sometimes be so high that we just can't afford to go to those high-priced attractions. However, Missouri's home to a fair share of attractions that don't come with an admission tag at all. This Missouri zoo, for example, promises an affordable day out for the whole family, offering free admission and small fees for certain attractions.
Sprawled across 90 acres, The Saint Louis Zoo offers free admission to all visitors, providing the opportunity to explore the zoo and to meet the animals without breaking the bank.
You'll meet a lot of animals, too. Approximately 13,000 animals, of more than 550 species, call the Saint Louis Zoo home, so chances are you'll find your favorite animal (or discover a new one).
Sneak a peek at the waddling penguins. Snap photos of the red pandas, and marvel at the zebras.
While admission is free, you will have to pay for some additional attractions in which you may be interested. Entrance to the children's zoo, although free for the day's first hour, costs $3.95 per person.
Other attractions that come with price tags include the Conservation Carousel, the Sea Lion Show, and Stingrays at Caribbean Cove.
You can also purchase an Adventure Pass, for $10.95, that includes admission to such attractions to the Children's Zoo, the 4D theater, and the zooline railroad.
The popular Missouri zoo is divided into Zoo Zones, with each zone home to some of your favorite animals. Visit with Red Rocks, for example, to see the giraffes, lions, tigers, and zebras.
If you get hungry, you'll have an abundance of spots - from Ray's Snack Shack to Lakeside Cafe - to grab a bite to eat.
You can find the hours for the zoo here.
