Nothing says "Christmas" like a Hallmark movie. The places featured in the notoriously festive flicks are nothing short of holiday wonderlands and, oftentimes, seem way too good to be true. However, we’ve got several small towns here in Mississippi that give the fictional locales dreamt up by Hallmark a run for their money. Read on for five small towns that honor Christmas in the most magical way.
1. Oxford
During the Christmas season, this small college town transforms into a holiday wonderland – and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. According to Country Living, Oxford is one of the "best Christmas towns in the USA." 2. Canton
No holiday itinerary is complete without a visit to Canton. The small town celebrates Christmas with a huge celebration, which is officially known as the Canton Christmas Festival. Like something straight from a Hallmark movie, the nearly-month-long fest includes appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, rides, thousands of sparkling lights, and lots more. Mississippi is about to get a bit brighter…and it’s all thanks to 50 Nights of Lights in Cleveland! 4. Natchez
Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, Natchez offers sleigh-loads of holiday fun for all ages and interests. One visit to Laurel during the holiday season and it’s clear – Christmas is a big deal in the small town.
