The Remote Small Town in Mississippi Locals Don’t Want You to Find
When you need to take a break from it all, spend a weekend relaxing in this remote small town in Mississippi.
Mississippi has so many charming small towns ideal for an escape from your everyday life. Some of these destinations we like to keep to ourselves. While most folks are flocking to places like Ocean Springs for its beautiful beaches, or Natchez for the scenic views in the fall season, I prefer a more low-key getaway. A secluded town in Mississippi where I can relax and bask in the quiet stillness.
Luckily, I’ve got the perfect destination to explore, but (shhh!) it must remain our little secret. Plan a trip to Glen, a remote small town in Mississippi, with plenty to offer, including a tight‑knit community, a great mom-and-pop restaurant, and easy access to nearby towns. The actual community only has a population that hovers just under 400 residents, so Glen is the perfect place to get away from it all. Chances are, this tiny town in Mississippi will become your new go-to destination for relaxation, too.
And since relaxing is at the top of our list, I can't think of a better place in town to unplug than at the Warrior Rendezvous Farm. This charming cabin is just pure perfection. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow is tucked away in the countryside. You’ll be surrounded by a beautiful natural setting with plenty to do.
Imagine starting your day sipping your morning coffee on the large patio overlooking the courtyard. As you sway in the swinging bench, you look out and see deer and rabbits frolicking across the yard. The morning is still, the air is crisp, and hearing the chirping birds invites you to pause and soak up all that nature has to offer. Your days can be spent taking a stroll through the fruit orchards or fishing on your own private pond stocked with bluegill, bass, and catfish. Or carve out some time to explore the hiking trails right from the property.
If you want to jump in your car and explore, you've got a few different options of places to see. Iuka, Mississippi, is a charming little town to the east with plenty to see and do. The town is surrounded by natural beauty and is within minutes of several of our favorite state parks. While Iuka is great all year long, the town comes alive in the autumn season. So, if you're searching for a destination for a fall day trip in Mississippi, this is it.
Get quirky and check out The Apron Museum, the largest of its kind in the country. And you'll want to visit Mineral Springs Park to see one of the last standing covered bridges in Mississippi. If you want more outdoor adventure, I find that the AllTrails Plus account comes in handy in remote areas like this. You can download offline maps, send routes to your Garmin, and get much more detailed information about the nearby trails and parks with a standard account.
To the west of Glen, you'll find the historic town of Corinth. Some of the best things to do in Corinth are the Crossroads Museum, the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center, and Lake Hill Motors and Marine, a unique motorcycle museum.
If you want to hit the trails, you're not far from two of the best state parks in Mississippi. J P Coleman State Park definitely gets overshadowed by Tishomingo State Park, but both are worthy of your time. Endless hiking trails, fishing, boat rentals, and more await you at either.
After your adventures, come back to your VRBO and start up a fire. Kick back in the Adirondack chairs and listen to the fire crackle as you make s'mores and watch the stars dance up above. Sounds dreamy, right?
