Nestled along Highway 61, the rustic shop opened its doors in 1913, and aside from a short closure between 2019 and 2021, it’s been serving patrons ever since.

It’s pretty remote; however, the location is actually part of its allure – and that’s because it’s where President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear, which, in turn, led to the creation of the teddy bear.

Worth the trek, the out-of-the-way store is brimming with historic relics that tell the story of the Delta’s connection to the teddy bear.

The entire menu, which features an array of burgers, sandwiches, and salads, is made in-house. And what can’t be made in-house is locally sourced.
