Summer hasn’t officially started, but it sure does feel like it here in Mississippi! And if you’re looking for the perfect way to spend a summer day, then you’re in the right place. Leading to some of the best beachy destinations in the state, this road trip is sure to make your summer complete. Take a look:

1. Ship Island
Home to the state’s best beaches, a visit to Ship Island is a must on any beach-inspired road trip. Luckily, you don’t need a boat to get there. Instead, you can hop aboard a ferry at the Gulfport Small Craft Harbor, and in just under an hour, you’ll arrive at your tropical destination. The ferry departs at 9 a.m. as well as 12 p.m. Board the ferry at 1040 23rd Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501.

2. Shaggy’s
Continue your beach-themed day with a stop by Shaggy’s. Between a water-front locale, tropical décor, and laid back vibe, it’s a perfect fit. Keep in mind, if you catch the noon ferry to Ship Island, you can make Shaggy’s your first stop, so you can grab a quick bite before hitting the beach. 3. Pop Brothers
While in Gulfport, a stop by Pop Brothers is a must. A great summertime visit, the coastal shop specializes in handcrafted popsicles made with fresh fruit and spices. Pop Brothers is located at 1501 25th Ave, Gulfport, MS 39501.
4. Finishline Performance Karting
Continue your beachy fun with a visit to Finishline Performance Karting, the only beachfront track in America. The recently opened "state of the art outdoor go kart racing complex" offers an adrenaline-pumping experience for all ages. Finishline Performance Karting is located at 1782 Beach Blvd. Biloxi, MS 39501.
5. Ocean Springs
Finish up your road trip with a visit to the "gem of the Gulf Coast" – Ocean Springs. At over 300 years old, the city is loaded with history, beauty, and charm. Spend some time exploring the downtown area. A recipient of the "Great American Main Street Award," the quaint area is home to shops, galleries, and restaurants.
