No matter the state of the economy or the size of our bank accounts, we can all appreciate cheap things to do in Mississippi. Fortunately, there are plenty of affordable ways to have fun in the Magnolia State. It’s not up to you to plan the perfect economical adventure, though. We’ve already figured everything out. Sure to please without breaking the bank, the route we’ve mapped out will take you to several stunning sites for well under $100!

1. Biloxi Lighthouse House

Kick off your affordable road trip through Mississippi with a visit to the Gulf Coast’s most recognizable landmark, the Biloxi Lighthouse. The towering structure was built in 1848 and, at the time, was one of the first cast-iron lighthouses in the South. Today, it’s open daily for tours from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m., weather permitting. During the guided tour, you’ll get the chance to ascend the lighthouse’s spiral staircase and take in the views from the top. Admission varies from free - $5, depending on age. Biloxi Tour Train

Once you’ve toured the Biloxi Lighthouse, consider hopping aboard the Biloxi Tour Train. The open-air train, which departs from the lighthouse, takes passengers on a fun-filled tour through the Biloxi Historic District. Just like the lighthouse tours, train tours are offered daily, weather permitting. Also, tours require a minimum number of guests, so it’s best to call in advance for reservations. 2. The Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum

After touring the Biloxi Historic District, delve deeper into the city’s past by visiting The Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum. Fun for all ages, the museum is jam-packed with more than 300 years of artifacts, memorabilia, and photographs relating to the area’s maritime and seafood industry. 3. Shepard State Park

Your final stop is Shepard State Park. Located in Gautier, it’s just a short drive from Biloxi, Mississippi. Well-worth the journey, the park is small but packed with perks and points of interest. Visitors can enjoy an archery range, dog park, disc golf, picnic areas, eight miles of nature trails, boat launch, and camping.
