The Ultimate Terrifying Minnesota Road Trip Is Right Here And You’ll Want To Do It

If you're looking for a thrilling adventure, Minnesota is bursting with haunted places just waiting to be explored. Some of the country's spookiest places can be found right in your backyard; if you're brave enough, you have to take this trip to see them! Here is the Google Map you can follow on this multi-day trip through Minnesota's ghostly attractions. It even includes multiple haunted hotels, to make the journey even scarier. Good luck sleeping on this vacation!

1. Glensheen Mansion, Duluth

Home of the Congdon family, Elizabeth Congdon and her nurse were murdered in the mansion and Elizabeth is thought to haunt the mansion today. Whether you believe in ghosts or not - a tour of Glensheen is something every Minnesotan should have on their to-do list. This site of a real life murder mystery is creepy and fascinating.

2. Old Jail Bed & Breakfast, Taylors Falls

The former jail, funeral home, and then bootleggers' hangout is of course haunted! People have spotted both a young boy and a women lurking around these rooms.

3. Soap Factory & First Ave, Minneapolis

Visit these 2 Minneapolis haunted spots for your first bit of Twin Cities' adventure. The Soap Factory is especially great at Halloween, and it's never a bad time to catch a show at First Ave!

4. Forepaugh's Restaurant & Wabasha Street Caves, St. Paul

Joseph Forepaugh's former home, this restaurant is said to be haunted by Joseph and his mistress since they both committed suicide in 1892. The Street Caves are haunted by the gangsters from its speakeasy days!

5. Grey Cloud Island

With the the highest concentration of Native American burial mounds in the country it's no wonder this place is full of supernatural activity. Take a turn around the island on your way out of St. Paul and enjoy feeling the presence of all that history. However, remember that there is a community who lives here, and be sure to respect their privacy.

6. Mantorville Opera House

One of the most haunted places in MN, the Mantorville Opera House, now home to the Mantorville Theatre Company, is another favorite. Lights go on and off without explanation when nobody is around, people report their hair being touched or seeing mysterious strangers who disappear. There is also a spirit who makes regular appearances.

7. Pipestone - Historic Calumet Inn

Room #207 is known to ring reception when nobody is there, and room #308 is full of ghostly activity. There have also been sightings of a lady in the hallway, a suited man, and the piano playing on its own. You should also check out nearby Pipestone County Museum for some supernatural activity.

8. Palmer House Hotel

This haunted hotel has even been featured on the Travel Channel for its unexplained activity and suicide cases in the past.

9. Old Lake Julia Sanitorium

Take a turn by Lake Julia near Puposky and check out this old place for tuberculosis patients. It is one of the most supernaturally active places in MN. But remember to view it from the road - don't venture onto private property without permission! People have spotted a girl in the 2nd story window and other shadowy figures here.

Bonus Stop 1: Thief River Falls

If you're heading out to see the Northern portion of the trip, take some extra time to head up to Thief River Falls for a stroll on "Dead Man's Trail" along the river. Look for a young Chippewa woman searching for her baby along the banks. Legend has it that she hid him on the bank to escape pursuers, and that when she returned he had been swept away.

Bonus Stop 2: Anoka

And if you're taking the tour of Southern MN, stop in Anoka, the Halloween Capital of the World, where you'll find the Anoka State Hospital, where many of the former patients are haunting the old buildings.
