And there are plenty of creepy cemeteries as well. But did you know some entire towns are considered to be haunted? Mantorville, Minnesota, is home to some of the state’s oldest buildings. According to the 2011 book Haunted Mantorville: Trailing the Ghosts of Old Minnesota, those old buildings might just be full of ghosts. Mantorville is a small town in southern Minnesota. It's about 80 miles south of the Twin Cities, and about 20 miles west of Rochester.
Mantorville is home to around 1,200 people. Despite its small population, the town gets plenty of activity thanks to its charm, activities, and lovely southern Minnesota surroundings.
Not only is Mantorville very charming, but it’s also very old.
The town was founded in 1854, making it one of the oldest towns in Minnesota. That means that it is home to many historic buildings. Who knows what stories these old structures could tell?
One of the oldest structures in Mantorville is the Old Log Cabin. Built sometime in the 1850s, this cabin may even predate Minnesota itself.
Many report a creepy, cold sensation when passing by Old Log Cabin. It's easy to brush that off as a natural reaction to a spooky-looking building. But given the other potential hauntings in Mantorville, the Old Log Cabin could just be haunted itself.
One of the oldest buildings in town is the Mantorville Opera House. It was built in 1918 and still hosts shows put on by the Mantorvile Theatre Company today.
The building is said to be haunted.
There have been reports of flickering lights and items that have mysteriously disappeared. Even more creepy, some have reported seeing a figure dressed in Victorian clothing haunting the halls here.
Mantorville's most famous old building, however, is the Hubbell House.
This restaurant is a well-known spot for those looking for a great drink or meal. The inside is filled with antique furniture and fixtures, making it a truly fascinating place to visit.
