The Small-Town Restaurant That Is Worth A Visit From Anywhere In Kansas
There are certainly plenty of amazing small towns in Kansas - it's one of the best-known aspects of the Sunflower State. These little towns may lack the population and square acreage of our large cities, but if you ask me, they can certainly compete in terms of charm, opportunities for fun, and delicious dining. These towns may feel like something of a step back in time for those of us accustomed to the hustle and bustle of a big city, but they're perfect for when you're looking for a quiet escape. The Gypsum Hills region of the state is simply teeming with small towns. The scenic vistas here make for amazing landscapes, and the area has plenty of hospitable small towns that feature fun shops and things to do. One of the best little towns in the Gypsum Hills is Sun City. It's tucked away in Barber County right along the Medicine Lodge River, and has a population of under 50 people. It also happens to be hiding one of the tastiest restaurants in Kansas: Buster's Saloon. Check it out:
Buster's Saloon is housed in an old-school building constructed back in the 1870s.
It's quite fitting for this no-frills bar and restaurant, which serves up BBQ and American fare, plus a range of drinks.
Walking in here feels like you stepped back into a cowboy bar from the famous Wild West days of Kansas.
There's even a fun area outside that's perfect for sitting and chatting with locals.
Steak, brisket, hamburgers, and more are on the menu.
Nothing too fancy here: this is an old-fashioned place with an old-fashioned menu!
The food is delicious and the atmosphere is classic Kansas small town.
Next time you're passing through the Gypsum Hills, make a stop at Buster's Saloon in Sun City, KS.
