Hike Around A Stunning Lake, Then Dine At A Small-Town Restaurant On This Delightful Adventure In Kansas
Explore the small town of Ellis, Kansas, with its scenic state park and delightful local restaurant.
There's tons to do in the big cities in Kansas. A visit to Kansas City or Wichita is so much fun - it feels like there's a never-ending array of attractions. However, we have plenty of small towns in the Sunflower State that are also worthy of an adventure! I love going to small towns. They're great spots to get a good feel for what a state is like, and you can learn so much about a state's culture and people by visiting a sparsely-populated area. One of our favorite small towns in Kansas is Ellis. This little city in the western part of the state has a population of right around 2,000, but there's plenty to do. Check out a few of our favorite things to do in Ellis, KS:
Just southwest of Ellis, you'll find the magnificent Cedar Bluff State Park. This massive preserve has historic canyons with ancient carvings, massive limestone bluffs, and plenty of hiking trails.
One pretty trail at Cedar Bluff State Park that won't take you all day is the lovely little Agave Ridge Loop.
This 0.8-mile trail has very little elevation gain and loops around a lake - it's a great option for those who aren't experienced hikers or are out with young kids.
There are several longer trails that branch off of the Agave Ridge Loop if you'd like to do a little more exploring.
After your excursion in nature, it's time to hit up one of our favorite small-town restaurants in Kansas: Arthur's Pizza and Mexican Foods.
This is a simple, no-frills spot with a big menu, friendly service, and, most importantly, delicious food.
Calzones, pizzas, and dessert pizzas are all available, and you can choose all your own toppings and crust type.
Not a fan of pizza? Don't sweat it, there's plenty of delicious Mexican dishes on the menu, too.
You can learn more about this tasty restaurant with a varied menu by checking out the Arthur's Pizza and Mexican Foods website.
This sounds like the perfect lineup of things to do in Ellis, KS if you ask us!
