Swan Valley is located in the southeastern part of the state. This is one of the smaller towns in Idaho with a population of approximately 200 residents.
This small town in Idaho is known for its stunning landscapes. This community is located on the banks of the South Fork of the Snake River and is surrounded by several mountain ranges.
Swan Valley is also part of the Yellowstone ecosystem. This means it is home to all types of animals from moose and elk to various bird species.
Many people flock to this area due to its incredible fly-fishing waters. However, this part of the river is also popular for water rafting and kayaking.
Just a short drive outside of Swan Valley is Palisades Reservoir, which is a slice of heaven for outdoorsmen and those who just want a beautiful place to spend the day.
Palisades Reservoir has approximately 70 miles of shoreline, five campgrounds, five picnic areas, and multiple boat ramps. There are also miles of hiking trails for you to explore.
One of the most beautiful hiking trails near Swan Valley, and in the Palisades area, is the Palisades Creek Trail. This out-and-back hiking trail in Idaho will take you through wooded areas, near waterfalls, and along a river. It’s beautiful.
Even in the winter, there is plenty to do around Swan Valley as this is a terrific area for snowmobiling and snowshoeing.
When you are hungry, you must stop at the Snake River Roadhouse. This hidden gem has been in business for more than 100 years and features the coziest interior and some seriously delicious food.
The menu consists of hand-crafted burgers, hot sandwiches, and thin-crust pizza. If you stop by this restaurant during the summer months, you can eat in the outdoor dining area and bar patio.
