Pretend It’s Fall In Hawaii With A Trip To This Charming Pumpkin Patch

Visit Aloun Farms for Hawaii's largest pumpkin patch and a family-friendly autumn festival with unique island activities.

While mainland America experiences all things autumn, including apple orchards, haunted attractions, fall foliage, and chilly weather, those of us who call Hawaii home can get a little bummed when the only seasonal change is a drop in the ocean temperature or Starbucks cup print. Well, I have fantastic news for all of you who either miss seasons or wish you were able to experience them, ever: the island of Oahu is home to not one, but two pumpkin patches. The first is found at Waimanalo Country Farms, accompanied by their fall sunflower bloom, which we’ve talked about here. The second is found on the opposite side of the island, at Aloun Farms.

Located on more than 3,000 acres on Oahu is Aloun Farms, a family farm that started out on just five acres and now provides families across the island with local, fresh produce you won’t find anywhere else — including Ewa sweet corn, beans, and even pumpkins!

That’s right, in addition to being one of the largest farms on the island, Aloun Farms is also home to a fun-filled family event that brings autumn to the residents of Oahu. The 18th Annual Aloun Farms Pumpkin Festival begins this weekend, and we guarantee you won’t want to miss this epic event!

In addition to picking your own pumpkin straight off the vine, you will also have the chance to harvest your own corn, beans, and sunflowers. How cool is that?

The event will also feature a variety of games, pony rides, tractor-pulled hayrides, picture booths, and live entertainment as well as access to a fantastic farmers market and local food vendors.

Running for three weekends this October, the entire family will love their day spent out in the country at Aloun Farms pretending it’s fall, picking out the perfect pumpkin, and learning all about Hawaii’s agriculture.

The only difference between this charming pumpkin patch and those you’ll find on the mainland? Your cute pumpkin patch photos will be taken while wearing shorts, t-shirts, and slippers instead of jeans, sweaters, and boots. Oh, and of course, the gorgeous Waianae Mountains will serve as a backdrop.

Gates will be open Saturday and Sunday, October 13-14, 20-21, and 27-28 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, and parking is free. Pumpkins are priced according to size, and everything is cash only, so make sure you have enough for that giant pumpkin you have your eye on.

While we may not get to experience autumn like the mainland, at least we can still visit a pumpkin patch! Aloun Farms is located at 91-1440 Farrington Hwy., Kapolei, HI 96707. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook.
