Most People Don’t Know About This Magical Sunflower Field Hiding In Hawaii

Blue skies and sunflower fields might be more reminiscent of the American Midwest during summer than of the Hawaiian Islands, but our year-round growing season makes the islands ideal for various harvests - including sunflowers. Unfortunately, Hawaii’s sunflower blooms don’t last long, and you’re going to want to hustle to make it down to Waimanalo Country Farms before these magical flowers disappear as quickly as they bloomed.

Located on the southeastern tip of Oahu is the magnificent Waimanalo Country Farms, a gorgeous slice of paradise home to a beautiful field of sunflowers - at least for the next few weeks.

Nestled at the back of a residential area between the breathtaking Waimanalo Beach and the towering Ko’olau Mountains, this is easily the most gorgeous sunflower field in the country, and is the perfect place to visit this week.

Once you park your vehicle, walk onto the farm and pay the $2 entrance fee, you’ll be able to hop aboard the trailer headed to the sunflower fields, where you’ll learn all about Waimanalo Country Farms.

When you arrive at the sunflower fields, you’re given free range to explore the stunning rows of sunflowers.

You can even purchase a few gorgeous sunflowers to enjoy at home. One of the farm workers will cut sunflowers for $3 a piece.

After you’ve chosen a few sunflowers to take home with you and filled your camera with some stellar photographs of the sunflowers in front of the mountains, you can wait for the next trailer that will bring you back to the main entrance - and a delicious low country boil enjoyed under a large white tent.

A trip to Waimanalo Country Farms isn’t complete without ordering a mason jar full of their mouthwatering ‘Nalo Made Lemonade. I’m partial to their li hing mui lemonade, but I’m told the pineapple, mango and strawberry flavors are delicious as well.

The Sunflowers at Waimanalo Country Farms bloomed mid-July, and should be around for approximately two weeks. The farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tickets are just $2, including a trailer ride to the sunflower fields.
