The Ultimate Weekend Itinerary If You Love Spending Time Outdoors In Georgia
Discover a weekend road trip in Georgia featuring Jekyll Island, Brunswick, and Okefenokee Swamp for outdoor adventures and scenic beauty.
Do you love spending time outside in nature? There are so many amazing natural attractions in Georgia that it's almost overwhelming. Personally, I love the mountains and trails in the northern parts of the state, but there's also something so wonderful about South Georgia's beaches and waterways. The Spanish moss-lined oaks that are so prevalent in the southern half of the state are sorely missed by those living farther north. If you're looking for some of the best outdoor adventures and activities in Georgia, we've got you covered with a fun (and quick!) weekend road trip by the coast. Check it out:
From national parks and campgrounds to waterfalls, canyons, and more, there is so much to love about America’s natural splendor — and June, designated as Great Outdoors Month, is the perfect time to get outside.
This is such a fun adventure that doesn't require much driving at all. The entire trip only requires about an hour and a half of driving and can easily be completed in a weekend.
You'll start this weekend of fun off with a trek along Jekyll Island's magnificent bike trail.
The entire trek is just under 15 miles and travels along the perimeter of the island.
Most travelers won't have time to explore the whole path, but even just journeying down a small portion of it will provide great scenery and an introduction to this beautiful area.

Make sure to leave yourself some time to explore Jekyll Island's gorgeous beaches!
You'll find some of the state's most amazing beaches here. Driftwood Beach, in particular, looks straight out of a fairy tale.
After enjoying the beautiful Jekyll Island, take a quick detour to Brunswick for casual dining at Marshside Grill.
You can enjoy amazing views with the al fresco dining.
This tasty spot serves up delicious sandwiches, burgers, and seafood right on the marsh.
Day 1 of your trip may be almost over, but go ahead and finish the drive to catch a sunset at Okefenokee Swamp.
Overnight camping is available here, and it's quite the experience. This place belongs on every Georgian's bucket list.
Note that campsites must be reserved in advance, so make sure to plan your trip ahead of time.
That will give you the next day to explore this natural wonder in Georgia before heading back home.
