Located on the northern end of Georgia's Jekyll Island, Driftwood Beach is an enchanting place to visit for nature lovers and photographers alike. From the Jekyll Island Campground, it's a short walk.

The moment you set foot on the beach, you'll notice a collection of gnarled and weather-worn trees dotting the shoreline.

These trees are the result of years and years of erosion. There was a time when a healthy maritime forest stood near the water.

What remains is a haunting reminder of the effect of weather on the landscape. It's one of the most unique things to see on the Golden Isles. You'll find driftwood on other beaches in Georgia, but nothing like what you'll experience at this stunning site.

Many visitors come to Driftwood Beach in Jekyll Island to admire the trees, but it's also a great place for wildlife viewing and collecting sand dollars.

When you visit, keep in mind that there's a daily fee to access Jekyll Island, which you pay when you cross over onto the island. With stunning views like this, it's worth every penny!

Sunrise is absolutely the best time to visit Driftwood Beach. It's indescribable what it's like to experience in person.

My family visited while on a vacation to Jekyll Island, and one of our favorite experiences was witnessing the gorgeous colors in the sky at sunrise on Driftwood Beach. It truly does feel like something from another world! I don't think there could be too many other places I'd rather see a sunrise. (And this coming from a night owl! It was so worth getting up early for.) We stayed at the Jekyll Island Campground and stopped by the beach on our way out when we left to go home. There are some places to park at the road near the beach entry path.
