Discover the best spots for fall foliage in Delaware on a scenic road trip.
Fall is the most beautiful season in Delaware, and because we're such a small state, it's easy to check out the most stunning fall colors on a Delaware fall foliage road trip! All it takes is one day, though you could probably squeeze most of these spots into just an afternoon trip! All of these destinations are worth the drive to see the bright orange, red and yellow of a Delaware autumn.
This Delaware Fall Foliage Road Trip will take you to the most beautiful destinations in the state, from Rockford Park to Trap Pond.

Start your day early at Rockford Park, Wilmington.
The quiet walking trails and open fields make for great leaf peeping.
White Clay Creek State Park, in Newark, is next.
The trails at White Clay Creek are stunning year round, but they truly come alive in the fall!
Head down to Lums Pond State Park, in Bear.
Delaware's largest pond lights up with fall colors! It's a great time of year to paddle out to the middle and take in the stunning scene.
From there, Blackbird State Forest is your next stop.
The quiet, isolated forest is the best place to go for some peace and quiet.
Of course, you can't skip Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.
This incredibly important bird sanctuary is absolutely breathtaking when the leaves start to change. Take the auto tour or walk the boardwalks.
If you're getting hungry, now is the perfect time to stop in Downtown Dover.
There are a ton of restauarnts in our quaint capital city, and it's a great spot for lunch while you enjoy the sight of orange and red against the historic brick buildings around the Green.
Finally, wrap your Delaware fall foliage road trip up with a stop at Trap Pond.
For an extra special experience, book yourself a ticket on the Fall Foliage Float, held for a few days towards the end of October. Read more about the Pontoon Tour at Trap Pond here.
