Dream Spring Break in Colorado: Where I’d Go if Money Was No Object

With a host of family-friendly activities, dining options, museums, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation, my top choice for spring break is Colorado Springs.

I have two kids, and spring break is inevitable during the school year. However, we typically save our travels for the summer and may take a day trip or two during spring break. Now, if I had unlimited funds, those plans would change.

I would love to take my kids on a trip to experience spring break in Colorado Springs, Colorado. With a host of family-friendly activities, dining options, museums, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation, Colorado Springs is my top choice for spring break.

So, let's get to the why of choosing Colorado Springs for an epic spring break. That's easy! Located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, it's beautiful, and there are endless ways to enjoy the great outdoors. There are also numerous family-friendly attractions necessary if I'm bringing my kids along on this fantasy spring break trip.

Where I'd Stay in Colorado Springs

While there are plenty of vacation options in Colorado Springs, I would opt for a hotel, but not just any hotel! I dream of staying at The Broadmoor, a five-star hotel and resort with several on-site dining options, a spa where I could get a massage and facial, a fitness center, a golf course, and luxurious accommodations. Sure, I could book a room or a suite, but if money were no object, I would opt for one of the cottages on the golf course. Oh, and if I need time alone, The Broadmoor offers babysitting services.

What I Would Do in Colorado Springs

I happen to love train rides, especially ones that showcase the scenery of a location. So, one thing I would do in town is embark on a scenic train ride with The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Just eight miles away from The Broadmoor is the Manitou Depot, where the kids and I would begin the journey.

We would hop on the train, which would take us through a mesmerizing landscape up to Pike's Peak. We would get off the train at the top and enjoy the views before returning to the train depot. Of course, hundreds of photos will be taken on this journey!

Another thing I would love to do is drive the road up to Pikes Peak, known as "America's Mountain." Sure, I would still take a train ride to the top, but driving up the curvy 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway to the 14,000-foot peak would give us another perspective. I know we won't be able to get enough of the scenery here!

Speaking of scenery, a trip to the Garden of the Gods to see an otherworldly landscape filled with red rock formations is a must. Using my AllTrails app, I would pick a kid-friendly hike we can all enjoy as a family. I may also spring for a Garden of the Gods Luxury Jeep Tour, which includes private transportation, water, and snacks with an expert guide telling us all about the park.

A trip to Colorado Springs isn't complete without a visit to the Castle at Glen Eyrie, where we would explore the grounds, take a guided tour, and reserve an afternoon tea time. What an extraordinary experience it would be to have tea in a castle!

I already can't wait to spend a spring break in Colorado Springs with my kids. While this is a fantasy trip at the moment, perhaps we can make it a reality someday soon.
