This Ride Through An Old Mine In Colorado Will Take You Back In Time

The Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour in Silverton, Colorado, offers a historic and interactive mining experience.

If you grew up in Colorado, you may remember studying the profitable mining industry during your middle school Colorado history class. For years, people flocked to the Centennial State in search of fortune by digging and panning for precious metals and rocks found within veins and ores and today, we can still retrace these steps by taking a tour inside this historic Silverton-area gold mine:

Located just outside of Silverton inside of Galena Mountain, the Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour takes adventurers on a journey (1/3 of a mile inside a 13,000 foot tall peak) to a time when gold was king and mining was a prosperous occupation.

When you visit this colorful and intriguing underground world, you will find shimmering walls of precious metals...

...vintage mining equipment (such as drills, slushers, and this cool old shovel)...

...and even get the opportunity to ride in an authentic vintage electric powered mine train.

One of the best parts of the trip, however, may just be the fact that you get to not only get your hands on some of the old vintage equipment, but...

...pan for gold!

That's right; you get to pan for gold AND keep whatever you find!

The Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour operates daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (between the months of May and October) and costs $18.95 for adults, $16.95 for seniors, and $9.95 for children (ages 5-12).
