The weather is wonderful, warm, and sunny enough to enjoy the great outdoors but much cooler than the brutal desert summers. Step aboard the one-of-a-kind Palm Springs Aerial Tramway which takes you from the desert floor almost 6,000 feet up to Mountain Station in the San Jacinto Mountains. During winter, you can spend the day enjoying the snowy mountain, with its panoramic views, hiking trails, and restaurants, before heading back down to the warm desert. Personally, I think the tramway is one of the best things to do in Palm Springs, California.

The areas surrounding the town of Palm Springs are known for their hot mineral springs and these nourishing waters are pumped into many of the spas, hotels, and resorts in the area. Whether or not you stay in a place that features hot springs or not, you can take advantage of the many day passes that are offered so you can take a soak in the mineral-rich waters. For example, El Morrocco Inn and Spa, built in the 1950s, is an exotic escape where you can do just that.

With the moderate temperatures of winter in the desert, humans are not the thing that makes Palm Springs come alive. This is the ideal time to see over 150 species of animals at the Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Condé Nast Traveler rated this one of the country’s 10 best zoos and there are a ton of interactive adventures for the whole family.
