We're not kidding -- in 2020, its population was 482.

The Arkansas Grand Canyon offers a 180-degree view of the Ozarks.
In true Arkansas fashion, you can even take a motorcycle tour! During the fall, it's one of the most popular things to do in Jasper, Arkansas.
For lunch with a view, the Cliff House Restaurant is sublime.
Its dining room overlooks Arkansas's most incredible natural wonder -- the eponymous Grand Canyon. You simply won't find a better view in Arkansas.
The chicken and waffles are the perfect sweet/savory plate to enjoy any time of day, and these folks make some of the best.
This restaurant in Jasper, Arkansas is open seasonally, beginning in March. It's definitely worth planning your trip around, so be sure to plan ahead.
Jasper also has some of the very best hiking trails in Arkansas.
The Buffalo National River has nearly 36,000 acres of designated wilderness within its boundaries. The Goat Trail in this National River (the first National River in the U.S., by the way) is quite possibly the most scenic trail in the state.
And if you're into stargazing, the Buffalo National Wilderness Area is second to none.
These views are absolutely out of this world. The dark skies here make for perfect conditions for astrophotographers and stargazers.
Of course, one of the best things to do in Jasper, Arkansas is to grab a paddle and set off on a waterfront adventure.
At Buffalo River Canoes, you can float down the Buffalo River in a truly memorable experience.

If you're looking for an adrenaline-pumping adventure while in Jasper, Horseshoe Canyon Ranch is home to the longest zip line in Arkansas.
It's nearly a half-mile long with a vertical drop of 277-feet, and reaches speeds of over 50 mph. Don’t forget to open your eyes!

Horseshoe Canyon's "Pony Express" may be more your speed. This 600-foot zip line will still give you those million-dollar views -- minus the vertigo!
In downtown Jasper, there are several unique places to visit during your day trip.
Emma's Museum of Junk is one such place.
Emma's is a totally unique, antique-store-meets-junk-shop located in downtown Jasper.
You know the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure?" It's true! Treasures abound at Emma's.
When in Jasper, a visit to the Ozark Cafe is a must.
This downtown Jasper restaurant is a beloved local institution.
Their burgers and fries are legendary.
The Ozark Cafe is home to the "Excaliburger" -- a burger sandwiched between two grilled cheese buns, with the cafe's signature sauce and all the fixings. Served, of course, with a sword.
The Ozark Cafe also has a Southern buffet that will require a hearty appetite -- and stretchy pants.
Seriously - the Ozark Cafe's buffet game is strong. Come hungry!
And if you plan on visiting Jasper in December, you're in for a treat.
This small Arkansas town goes all out for the holidays, with a beautiful light display at the Historic Courthouse Square. (Is this a reindeer, or an elk, a la the Hilary Jones Museum?)
