Commercial Air Travel Was The Safest It’s Ever Been In 2017 And Here’s Why
Millions of people in America find themselves full of fear when it comes to the idea of traveling by plane. But if there’s anything that will put these nervous travelers at ease, it’s the latest information surrounding commercial air travel safety. Keep reading to find out why 2017 was named the safest year ever for commercial air travel.

According to the Aviation Safety Network and aviation consultants of To70, 2017 was the safest year ever recorded for commercial air travel. According to the Dutch company, zero accident deaths in commercial passenger jets were recorded for 2017. That's right, zero!
Over the last couple decades we've seen a steady decline when it comes to aviation deaths, with 2017 following in that pattern. According to the data, in 2017 there were 10 fatal airliner accidents (including data for cargo planes and commercial passenger turbo prop aircraft) that caused 44 deaths onboard and 35 deaths on the ground. To give you something to compare these numbers to, in 2016 there was a total of 16 fatal accidents that resulted in 303 deaths among airliners and 1,015 deaths back in 2005.
