It’s not your imagination: some days at the airport are far more hectic than others. If you’re traveling this year, there are actually three days you’ll want to avoid stepping foot into an airport.

With over 9 million more people expected to fly this summer than last, it’s no surprise that airports are bracing for huge crowds. Specifically, trends show that the three Thursdays following the Fourth of July are historically the busiest days of the year. This year, those days are July 5, 12, and 19.

In anticipation of this massive surge in travelers, the TSA has hired more than 1,000 new security agents and airports are fine-tuning their boarding and screening procedures. Let’s hope that means that taking your summer vacation won’t necessarily mean extra time waiting in line at security.
