Festive beverages are a huge part of the holiday season, and one special town in Texas celebrates with a drink we don’t hear about often in America. New Braunfels is hosting its annual Wassailfest in Texas on Thursday, December 7, 2023, and it’ll be complete with sips, snacks, stalls for merchants to sell their wares, and sounds of the season. If you ask me, Wassailfest in New Braunfels is one festive winter event that you don’t want to miss!

Where can I see great Christmas lights in Texas?

Depending on what type of lights you’re looking for, there are plenty of options to choose from across the state. For some simple neighborhood Christmas lights to enjoy, check out the Burkman Holiday Home in Frisco, the River Oaks neighborhood in Houston, or the “Christmas Ranch,” which is a private residence in Cleveland. Then there are drive-thrus, which you can experience via Lights Alive in San Antonio, The Light Park in Spring, or Santa Land in Tyler, just to get you started.

What are some of the best Christmas or winter festivals in Texas?

The 12 Days of Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum brings one of our favorite childhood Christmas songs to life with animated gazebos each depicting a different verse from the song. There are also other attractions to enjoy such as pictures with Santa, cookie-baking classes, and a Christmas village. Charro Days in Brownsville is a winter festival held after the New Year rolls around that celebrates the intermingling of Mexican and American cultures. There are plenty of other winter festivals to look forward to in the state if you’re able to participate in more than one.

What are the best Christmas towns in Texas?

Some of the best Christmas towns in Texas include Marshall, Fredericksburg, and Grapevine, which look a lot like something from a Hallmark Christmas movie during the season. Or there’s Cleburne, which holds lots of festive events to check out and enjoy. And you could even take a Christmas towns road trip to see some of the most beautifully decorated Main Streets over the holidays.
