About 55 miles east of Austin, Giddings is a small town known for its Southern hospitality. Located in a historic building, Giddings Downtown Restaurant features an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet in which every last item is made with love.
Inside, the atmosphere is no less antiquated. Rich mahogany furnishings, brick walls, and fine artwork bring several different eras together under one roof.
Seating is available both up and downstairs, so you'll never have to worry about finding a seat. Strike up a conversation with the locals and learn all about the history of the town.
Baskets full of all your favorite down-home staples look, taste, and smell just like mom used to make. Things like chicken-fried steak, pot roast, and tons of green vegetables are cooked to perfection with flavors reminiscent of childhood Sunday night suppers.
Don't be surprised if your stomach and eyes aren't on the same page; it happens to the best of us. The buffet is only offered at lunchtime, closing at 2:30 p.m. so the restaurant has plenty of time to get ready for dinner. Pricing is $7.95/person, an absolute steal considering the sheer amount and quality of food you receive.
