Sip Beer With Ghosts At This Prohibition-Era Saloon In Texas

The oldest original building in downtown Spring, Wunsche Bros Café & Saloon is a Prohibition-era landmark dating to 1902.
Opened by local brothers Charlie and Dell Wunsche, the saloon was built using lumber from the Wunsche family mill and served as a hotel, brothel, and watering hole until the consumption of alcohol was made illegal in 1919.
In 1949 - nearly two decades after Prohibition was repealed - the saloon was sold and turned into a café.
A fire broke out in 2015, but miraculously, the structural integrity of the building remained sound. Three years later, the Kosh family purchased the saloon, bringing its glory days back to life with painstaking renovations.
As is the case with many old buildings, the saloon is rumored to be haunted - by the brothers who founded it, no less.
Kick things off with some beer bread, Texas-style queso, or these mouthwatering sausage sauerkraut balls. With fried sausage, sauerkraut, cheese, and chipotle ranch for dipping, they're pure heaven in bite-sized form.
Entrees include burgers and sandwiches, house-smoked sausage and pulled pork, chicken-fried steak, and other elevated American dishes.
On nice days, we highly recommend the latter - though you should still spend some time in the saloon itself to enjoy the vibe (and get acquainted with the ghosts.)
