The neat thing about Fido, is that this small cafe located in Hillsboro Village doesn't specialize in burgers - but it sure does make a good one! Made up of local beef and lamb, topped with Tennessee white cheddar and caramelized fennel? We're all in for a decadent burger in the heart of the city. (1812 21st Ave S)

Burger Republic is a local favorite, sure, but their taco truck burger really shows the expansive ability of this little burger spot that could. Fresh guacamole and tomato on a freshly baked bun clinches the Taco Truck Burger as one of the most inventive must-try's of the year. (Various Locations)

Hugh Baby's opened up shop in the old Porter Road Butcher space in West Nashville, and has been slingin' a solid menu of fried and griddled goods ever since. We'd recommend the Slugburger, a Hugh Baby's classic from the heart of Corinth, Mississippi. It's made up of ground porch and soy meal, served with pickles, onions and mustard. (4816 Charlotte Avenue)

Hopdoddy just opened up in Hillsboro village, and where you may want to give into the fanfare of the Impossible Burger, we think La Bandita is an unsung hero. Great for vegetarians, the black bean and corn patty is served up with Chipotle mayonnaise, avocado, pesto, goat cheese and arugula on a delicious whole wheat bun. Amazing, no? (1805 21st Ave S Ste 100)

Brown's Diner is a local dive that has a deep hand in the heart of Nashville's restaurant history. Go for the classic cheeseburger with a side of fries - it doesn't have to be crazy, here. It's just downright good. (2102 Blair Blvd)

The Max Burger is a sleeper hit, made up with fried pickles, bacon butter, sriracha aioli and finished off with pepper jack cheese. Burger Up just opened a new location in East Nashville as well, so no longer will you be waiting around the block in 12 South. What a gift. (Various Locations)

Rotier's is a Nashville institution, and a favorite to celebrities like Charlie Daniel's. The burger is served up with cheese on a slice of french bread, which makes for a quirky change and fun way to experience the classic burger. (2413 Elliston Place)
