Folks with more than 25 years experience running a very successful haunted house decided to put their skills to a different test and opened a one-of-a-kind bed and breakfast in Manitowoc. If you stay here, you'd better love Halloween and getting the bejesus scared out of you - and you certainly shouldn't count on a good night's sleep. But if you love creepy and kooky, scary and spooky, Dead Before Dawn is absolutely for you.

The "dead and breakfast" is housed in a historic building in downtown Manitowoc that's been around since 1951.

Start your night with an "unhappy hour" with the host family in the Shrunken Head pub on site for drinks and hors d'oeuvres.

The decor here is all about ambiance and you won't be disappointed. After drinks, head out into town for a bit of a roam.

But don't go too far - you have to be back at the hotel by 11:00 pm.

That's when doors are locked and lights have to be out for your evening and to accommodate the things - spirits, ghosts, ghouls and more - that will accompany your night.

Expect a different kind of hospitality here. The host family will do everything to ensure you have a unique, wonderful and scary experience.

After midnight, you never know what you might encounter, but you can "rest assured" it won't be a restful evening.

The Dead by Dawn comes complete with theme rooms to play on your biggest fears. The Nightmare Room embraces all your fears and uncertainties, the Pirate Room holds the secrets of the deep dark waters, and the Coulrophobia Room is specially designed for those with a paralyzing fear of clowns.

We don't recommend roaming the halls at night - it's not good for your health.
