This Charming Wisconsin Airbnb Is Straight Out of a Hallmark Movie
Located in Ferryville, this historic Airbnb was built in the 1850s and has all modern amenities, including a hot tub.
Have you ever dreamed of staying overnight in a century-old cabin? What about one that's going on two centuries old, overlooking the Mississippi River, with all modern amenities? If that sounds like the setting of a Hallmark film to you, I agree. I can imagine our protagonists lounging around in their Adirondack chairs, sipping brandy Old Fashioneds in this Wisconsin Airbnb.
Eagle View Lodge definitely looks the part of an 1850s era cabin on the outside, though you wouldn't know it once you step inside. This venerable time capsule in Ferryville, Wisconsin, certainly has its fair share of stories to tell, and I have no doubt romantic stories are among them. Surrounded by nature, this home is one that guests could easily fall in love with. Historic homes like this Airbnb are also exceedingly hard to come by, especially with such spectacular views. I'm not surprised at all that this home is among the top 1 percent of Airbnbs.
A rough stone-hewn, working fireplace is the centerpiece of the cozy living room. With large windows and a French door, you can glimpse into the wild outdoors without leaving the comfort of the toasty fire. Dark wood tones set the scene for a quiet family get-together or a charming romantic getaway in this Hallmark-esque spot.
Although I know a classic Hallmark film is usually centered around two people (generally falling in love), the movies also feature families. This cabin is perfect for either, especially since it can sleep up to 10 guests across three bedrooms. Two of the three bedrooms have two beds, and the third (featured above) has one queen bed.
Beyond the sleeping spaces, Eagle View Lodge features plenty of other areas for quality family time. There is a fire pit for an obligatory marshmallow roasting pic, a private balcony and backyard, and a hot tub. Even in the winter, this could be a picturesque spot for watching snow fall or birds fly overhead.
Eagle View Lodge's pièce de résistance, however, has to be the kitchen area. With plenty of cooking space, I can imagine huddling over the counter, making a scrumptious meal with loved ones in this space, and gabbing about the next day's activities. There is just something about the Wisconsin Driftless Area that makes one feel at home, even if they're far from it. Heck, people give a lot of attention to East Coast leaf peeping as if the Driftless didn't have its own magnificent road trip-worthy foliage.
I think, in that way, the whole area feels like a Hallmark movie. A chance to get away from the rush of it all with a brief respite in nature within a well-loved and well-preserved home. If you stay here, be sure to check out the charming town of Viroqua, just 30 minutes away. Looking for even more ideas? Take a look at our list of some of the very best places to stay in Wisconsin.
