Camping in Wisconsin is positively perfect, and we have some of the most spectacular places to get up-close with Mother Nature. And while we have tons of your typical, pitch-a-tent-and-camp-out campgrounds, Wisconsin also has some totally unique camping experiences. Like Smokey Hollow Campground. This campground is unique in that visitors get to set up camp in an authentic covered wagon. And these covered wagons are far from "roughing it" -- a stay in Smokey Hollow's covered wagons comes with access to all sorts of amenities, including a beach, inflatables, mini-golf, and more.
Step back in time to the days of covered wagons with a visit to the small town of Lodi, Wisconsin, which is where you’ll find Smokey Hollow Campground.
The campsite is centered around a swimming pond, which is surrounded by a sandy beach.
It's a seasonal campsite that's open April through mid-October.
Even better, the pond is full of toys and inflatables, practically guaranteeing some happy campers.
The amazing amenities also include mini-golf, a jumping pillow, play areas, an on-site store, and more.
The accommodations are as varied as the amenities and include yurts, cabins, campsites, and…
… Conestoga Wagons (!), which are old-fashioned covered wagons.
Dubbed the original RV, each of the wagons can sleep up to five.
And while the wagons are old-fashioned in appearance, they’re equipped with modern comforts, including AC, a DVD player, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, and coffee pot.
The wagons’ fantastic features don’t end there, though. Outside of each wagon, you’ll find a picnic table, a charcoal grill, and small deck.
A stay in one of these utterly unique Conestoga wagons is bound to deliver an unforgettable overnight adventure.
Smokey Hollow is open April through mid-October, and you can book your stay through their website. To learn more, you can also visit the Smokey Hollow Campground website or Facebook page.
