This West Virginia Airbnb Has the Most Underrated Fishing Spot
A private stocked pond all but guarantees a laidback fishing adventure when you book a stay at this adorable three-bedroom cabin.
I'm an amateur fisher at best. But the few times I've cast a line into a pond or river, I'm amazed by the perfect simplicity of it. Being out in nature with the purpose of catching a fish can have an almost meditative effect on the mind. If you tend to agree, then I'm excited to share an Airbnb in West Virginia with its own private stocked fishing pond.
Sometimes the best vacations are the quiet ones, and that's exactly what you'll discover at this unbelievably peaceful three-bedroom cabin in Triadelphia, West Virginia. With four beds throughout the house, there's enough space for six guests to stay comfortably. The cabin is tucked away in the woods, giving you the sense of being totally secluded, and yet it's conveniently located near Wheeling and Oglebay Park.
The cabin is completely hand-built, and it's sitting about a third of a mile into the woods. Despite its rustic setting, the inside is outfitted with everything you'll need for a comfortable and downright luxurious stay. (One thing to note about the driveway: It's quite steep and four-wheel drive or AWD is recommended in the summer and required in the winter.)
The main bedroom is located on the second floor and features a standalone copper soaking tub. The unique decor and natural wood paneling underscore this authentic cabin experience. From the custom lighting to the lovably quirky decor, the details really are incredible.
And while all the rooms have their unique charms, my favorite space in the house is the bunk room. It's ideal for kids and kids-at-heart to have a sleepaway camp experience complete with an entire bookshelf stocked with some great reading material.
But the outdoor space is where this home truly shines. A covered front porch with comfortable seating overlooking the pond and forests is the perfect place to spend a few hours, especially during the warmer months. There's also a ring for outdoor fires and cooking if you're inspired to have a classic cookout.
The pond itself is an essential piece of this stay. With a private deck, it's perfect for fishing. The pond has been stocked with bass, bluegill, and catfish, and guests are welcome to make use of the kayak as well.
If it's quality time away you're after, with meaningful moments spent in nature and with your travel companions, this rental is an easy choice. One recent traveler shares a moment that stands out and a favorite: "Sitting around the fire pit at night gazing at the stars and listening to the lap of the lake was perhaps my favorite memory."
