Dream Spring Break in West Virginia: Where I’d Go if Money Was No Object

The Mountain State is a revelation in the springtime. Verdant green forests, rushing rivers, and dreamy blue mountains inspire adventure this time of year and, with it, a need for travel. But luckily, we don't need to go far to enjoy a luxurious vacation.

I've recently discovered a five-star Airbnb in Harpers Ferry that could stand up to the country's most famous stays in terms of location, amenities, and views. The Blarney Estate is a magnificent 11-acre retreat with four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. Each room has multiple beds, so there's enough space for 14 guests. But the amenities don't stop there. The first floor boasts a year-round indoor heated pool that stays at the perfect temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Enjoy a few leisurely laps or float on a pool noodle while enjoying the views outside or listening to your favorite music.

The outdoor space is just as impressive. The terrace features a grill, dining tables, and plenty of seating. There's also a swing for two overlooking the property's best view. When you're in the mood for some games, you'll find equipment for basketball, cornhole, and badminton. In the front yard, there are rocking chairs, plus a playground for kids. My favorite feature, though, is the fire pit with several Adirondack chairs and an unforgettable view of Harpers Ferry Gap, the unique place where Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia all meet.

Of course, no trip to Harpers Ferry is complete without a few adventures, and fortunately, there are plenty just a quick drive away. Ziplining, rafting, historic sites, wineries, hiking trails, and breweries await you just beyond your doorstep. And after you've enjoyed the region's best attractions, you'll relish the chance to return to your private sanctuary.
