You’ll Never Forget An Overnight In This Castaway Caboose In West Virginia

Experience a unique adventure by camping in a caboose pulled by the Durbin Rocket steam engine along the Greenbrier River.

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to sleep in a caboose, here's your chance to find out. Not only do you get to experience a scenic train ride, but you'll also have the experience of camping when the train drops you and the caboose off in the wilderness. The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad makes it all possible. Here's how it works.

The train departs from the Durbin, WV Depot.

Your caboose will be pulled by the Durbin Rocket steam engine.

You'll take a scenic route along the Greenbrier River.

The trip takes about an hour each way.

The caboose is dropped off in a wilderness location, miles from civilization.

It's in the National Quiet Zone, so there's no phone service here.

The caboose has everything you need for camping with up to 6 people.

You'll be supplied with a refrigerator, range, heat, linens, towels, utensils, and a DVD player.

There's even a kitchen and a bathroom.

You will need to pack your own food.

When morning comes, the train will come by again to hook up the caboose and take you back to Durbin.

Here's a video about the trip.
