The Heathman Hotel sits at the corner of Kirkland Avenue and Third Street, which was once the site of Kirkland's first hospital.

The privately owned Kirkland Hospital opened in 1930, but it closed in 1971 after most people chose to go to Overlake in Bellevue. The original building was demolished, and now you can enjoy a luxurious stay here instead of a hospital stay (definitely a better option).

In addition to the spacious dining room, guests can dine outdoors year-round thanks to the heated outdoor seating area.

The chefs make almost everything in-house, so you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu... but the Hearth Burger is absolutely out of this world.

Topped with black pepper aioli, caramelized onions, and smoked gouda, it's a meal all on its own (but you'll want to eat those fries, too).

Before you make your way back to your room for the evening, order a Chocolate Sundae.

The menu simply calls it "chocolate in all the ways," which is an accurate description.
