With Crackling Fires and Cozy Blankets, This Snow-Covered Cabin In Virginia Has It All

Alton Cottage is a historic cabin Airbnb in Warrenton, Virginia, that accomodates two guests. It has a clawfoot tub and indoor fireplace, making it the perfect place to relax during the winter months.

Virginia winters are nothing short of incredible. With numerous opportunities to ski, hike, take a scenic drive, or stay in a cozy cabin, the state offers many ways to enjoy the season. Years ago, I loved skiing and tubing; I now prefer taking snowy hikes or enjoying winter landscapes from the warmth of a cabin. We've found a one-of-a-kind historic cabin Airbnb in Warrenton, Virginia, that's the perfect accommodation for a wintertime getaway.

Alton Cottage has one bedroom and one bathroom, accommodating two guests. It's ideal for couples celebrating a birthday or anniversary or just wanting to relax in the country. The building was constructed in the 1820s, originally functioning as a summer kitchen for another home on the farm. The cabin offers stunning valley views. It has been carefully refurbished to marry the old, historic aspects of the building with modern conveniences. The Airbnb still has the original stone chimney, hand-hewn beams, and Douglas fir floors. It also has Wi-Fi, central heat and air, a television, and a new gas fireplace. Isn't it amazing that guests can enjoy this slice of 19th-century history while being warm and comfortable?

The bedroom has a queen-sized bed, from which guests can enjoy the television and modern gas fireplace. The cabin's bathroom features a clawfoot tub and rain showerhead. Cruelty-free bath products are included in each stay. I think a long, hot soak in a clawfoot tub sounds like the perfect end to a day of hiking.

The cabin's quaint and cozy kitchenette has a minifridge, Nespresso machine, microwave, hot plate, and toaster. There's also a small dining table for two where guests can eat or work.

Guests can also enjoy meals from a number of area restaurants, including Denim and Pearls, an American restaurant on Main Street, and the Cast Iron Craft House, which serves locally sourced comfort food. Red Truck Bakery on Waterloo Street serves incredible pies, cakes, and sandwiches. Claire's at the Depot serves Southern food in a building that was once an 18th-century train station. Many wineries and breweries are accessible from the cabin Airbnb, including Molon Lave Vineyards, Vint Hill Craft Winery, and Old Bust Head Brewing Company.

The area offers many things to do. Visitors can learn about a historic jail and its prisoners at the Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail. Fox Den Antiques is an antique shop in the area that sells affordable treasures. Shenandoah National Park is also within driving distance. It offers numerous hiking trails, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and a stunning scenic drive down Skyline Drive.
