Camping is a popular outdoor activity here in Utah and for good reason. With all of our incredible mountains, lakes, deserts, and more, there’s no better way to immerse yourself in nature than sleeping under the stars. Sometimes, however, you just don’t want to "rough it." Glamping has become quite popular here in the Beehive State and many campgrounds offer unique shelters such as yurts to help you enjoy your time outdoors but with a little extra comfort. Here are just five campgrounds in Utah with yurts for when you simply want a glamping experience.
1. Wingate Campground, Dead Horse Point State Park
Wingate Campground is a year-round campground located inside Dead Horse Point State Park. At this campground, you will find multiple yurts for rent and each shelter can comfortably sleep up to six people. These yurts come packed with several amenities including heating and air conditioning. Just make sure you don't spend all of your time inside as these yurts are located within an International Dark Sky Park.
2. Glamping Canyonlands, Monticello
Glamping Canyonlands is a family-owned glampground in Monticello, approximately 30 miles away from Canyonlands National Park. This glampground offers multiple glamping tents with a long list of amenities such as plush beds, private picnic areas, and more. Each tent is at least 50 yards apart so you’ll feel tucked away and can enjoy some peace and quiet during your stay.
3. Escalante Yurts, Escalante
Located right on Utah’s scenic and well-known Highway 12, Escalante Yurts is essentially a yurt campground with a handful of options. These yurts range in size and can sleep between four to seven guests. Plus, each individual yurt has its own set of features and designs but you'll find heating and air conditioning, a grill, small fridge, microwave, and coffee maker no matter the shelter you choose.
4. East Zion Resort, Orderville
The yurts at East Zion Resort in Orderville not only give you a cozy place to relax each night, but the views are incredible. There are multiple yurts available to rent at this glampground in southern Utah and they can comfortably sleep up to five guests. Plus, these glamping shelters will feel like home with plenty of seating areas, a small kitchen area, and more.
5. Gooseberry Mesa Yurts, Virgin
Gooseberry Mesa Yurts offers a way that you can camp in style. Here, you will find four yurts to rent and each can comfortably sleep up to six adults. These yurts are far away from everything, allowing you to feel secluded and giving you some gorgeous night sky scenes. But, be aware that these yurts are not available during July and August due to extreme temperatures and no cooling systems.
What do you think? Are you ready to head out and sleep in a yurt? Are there any campgrounds in Utah with yurts that we left off of this list? If so, let us know in the comments or fill out this form and tell us all about them.
