Some of our favorite lakes for summer camping in Utah are those that are lesser known. These bodies of water are typically hidden away but offer so many remarkable gems. Tony Grove Lake in Cache County is one such place. Located up Logan Canyon, this smaller lake is one that will make you feel like you're in a fairy tale. Mid-July to mid-August is one of our favorite times to visit this lake as this area becomes surrounded by beautiful summer wildflowers. In fact, this is one of the best places to view summer wildflowers in Utah.
Tony Grove Lake is located approximately 8,000 feet in elevation in Logan Canyon. After turning off the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway, you will drive on a 7-mile paved road to this stunning area.
This is one lake where the journey is almost as incredible as the destination itself.
Tony Grove Lake isn’t a large mountain lake in Utah but it sure is beautiful. You will be impressed the minute you arrive.
And while you can simply come to enjoy the beauty of this entire area, we recommend visiting between mid-July through mid-August. During this time, the wildflowers are in full bloom and the area is mesmerizing.

There are several ways that you can view the wildflowers. Spend some time at the Tony Grove Day Use Area, which features several picnic sites on the shores of the lake and meadows of colorful wildflowers.
You can also take a hike, which is one of our favorite ways to view the wildflowers. We recommend the short trail that circles Tony Grove Lake. This easy hike is perfect for a family-friendly adventure.
You will also find the trailheads to the Mt. Naomi Wilderness and White Pine Lake. These trails are both beautiful but long and difficult.
No matter which trail you take, you'll walk through seas of color.
Whether you hike or simply explore near Tony Grove Lake, be prepared for wildlife encounters. It isn’t uncommon to view moose, deer, and other wildlife making their way to the water.
You can always make wildflower viewing at Tony Grove Lake an overnight experience. Tony Grove Campground sits at the end of the lake and features 37 campsites.
This campground is best for tents as there is no water, hookups, or waste station. There is a seven-day limit at this campground and it is strongly encouraged to make reservations, particularly when the wildflowers are in bloom — this area is beautiful and everyone wants to enjoy its stunning scenery.
One of the best places to view wildflowers is Tony Grove Lake. This wildflower viewing area is beautiful and worth the journey no matter if you stay for a single day or make it a week-long visit. It's one of the best things to do in Utah in summer!
