This Tennessee Airbnb Has the Most Underrated Fishing Spot

Many Tennessee anglers likely have the same fishing spots on their bucket lists—Kentucky Lake, Lake Barkley, Chickamauga Lake, and Dale Hollow Lake, for example. Even though these fishing sites are popular for a good reason, there are dozens more fantastic places to fish in the Volunteer State. We've found a cozy Airbnb on the shores of Douglas Lake, an underrated fishing spot in Tennessee, that fisherfolk across the state should check out.

Lake View Cottage is a freshly renovated two-bedroom Airbnb that accommodates up to six guests. It's perched above Douglas Lake, and guests can enjoy panoramic views of the 30,000-acre lake from the wrap-around deck and fire pit. The lake is great for catching largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. In late winter, anglers may also fish for sauger, walleye, and white bass. Guests should note that the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency issues fishing regulations and limitations for each type of fish.

The welcoming cottage has an open-concept dining and living space, accented with light grey paint and beautiful wooden floors. There is a large, white dining table that seats six people, and two plush couches. In the center of the space, there's an indoor fireplace and a television. Wouldn't this be the perfect place to watch a movie or read a book by a crackling fire?

Lake View Cottage's kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. It also has a coffee maker, pots and pans, dishware, and a toaster. From early morning breakfasts to late-night snacks, guests can prepare whatever dishes they desire.

The Airbnb has outdoor seating areas with amazing views. A U-shaped outdoor dining table with four bar-height chairs lets guests look out over the sparkling lake. There are also two lounge chairs on the deck, perfect for perusing a magazine or taking a nap. Steps away from the cottage's deck are six comfortable Adirondack chairs with sweeping water views. The views are especially divine at sunset!

The cottage perfectly positions guests to enjoy many awesome lake activities. Aside from fishing, visitors can enjoy swimming, boating, water skiing, tubing, and more. Delightful and clear, Douglas Lake attracts many visitors each year. The Rankin Bottoms Wildlife Refuge is a stunning area of the lake, renowned for its birdwatching opportunities. There, you can find great blue herons, great egrets, short-billed dowitchers, swallows, sandpipers, and more.

Dandrige and Sevierville are a short drive away from Lake View Cottage. Sevierville, an underrated city for travelers, boasts numerous attractions, such as Smoky Mountain Knife Works, Hillside Winery, and Forbidden Caverns. There are also incredible restaurants in Sevierville, including the Local Goat New American Restaurant and the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant. I was lucky enough to have Sunday dinner at the farmhouse restaurant, and my mouth is watering just thinking about their apple fritters and apple butter.

After a full day of adventures on Douglas Lake or around Sevierville, guests can rest and recuperate in the Airbnb's comfortable beds. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with a double bed. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated, with white bedding and bedside lamps. They also have room-darkening shades, extra pillows, and blankets.
