This Mountain Cabin Is the Perfect Home Base for Tennessee’s Best Hiking Trails
Perched on a cliffside, this beautiful cabin is the perfect home base for the best mountain hiking in the region.
Tennessee boasts some of the best hiking in the country, and you could easily spend a lifetime exploring the state's mountains, rivers, and forests. If you're inspired to get right to the heart of it, we found the perfect mountain cabin in Newport, Tennessee, overlooking the iconic French Broad River. The views are absolutely out of this world. And when you're ready to venture out, you'll find some of the best hikes in the region just beyond your doorstep.
When I lived in Western North Carolina, I couldn't get enough of those stunning mountain views. No matter the time of year, the endless rolling peaks create a heartachingly beautiful vista. And it's those same gorgeous mountain views that have caught my eye at the Cliffhang Cabin in eastern Tennessee, not far from the North Carolina border.
The cabin is quite literally perched on a cliffside, offering jaw-dropping views of the French Broad River and the mountains beyond. The two-level cabin has enough room to accommodate four guests, with two bedrooms and two baths. The interior has that classic, cozy cabin feel, with warm wood interiors, plenty of comfy seating, and thoughtful, understated decor. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll need for preparing and enjoying meals.
Some of my favorite details are the exposed timber ceilings, tongue-in-grooved walls, and floors. Not to mention the windows that look out over the incredible views. Waking up to a world-class view of the Smokies is just one of the hallmark experiences of staying here.
When those mountains start calling your name, you'll be delighted to discover hundreds of miles of hiking trails all within an hour. Hot Springs, North Carolina, is just thirty minutes away, with its babbling mineral-rich waters, Lovers Leap Trail, and the Appalachian Trail, which actually cuts through the center of downtown Hot Springs. Gatlinburg, the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is just 45 minutes away. Some of the most popular hiking trails in the park include Alum Cave Trail, Kuwohi, and Rainbow Falls Trail.
Returning to the cabin, you'll feel completely invigorated by the natural beauty of the area and ready to unwind. It's the perfect time to take a soak in the hot tub or gather around the fire pit to reflect on an adventure-filled day.
The reviews speak for themselves. Guests rave about the views and describe the stay as "favorite Airbnb to date," a "dream Airbnb," and "the perfect spot." Ready to book your mountain cabin getaway?
