This Fairy Tale Campground Near Pittsburgh Is Like Something From A Dream
Bear Run Campground near Pittsburgh offers a fairy tale-like camping experience with various amenities and proximity to state parks.
Fairy tales don't always mean stories about princes and princesses, one of whom is usually in distress. Sometimes we get that fairy tale vibe from the landscape around us - the vibrant green of the trees that hug a lone camping tent, pastel sunrises and sunsets, and a sinking sun behind a shimmering blue lake. If that sounds like your definition of a fairy tale, plan a getaway at Bear Run Campground near Pittsburgh.
Write your own "once upon a time" tale when you camp out at Bear Run Campground in Portersville, less than 40 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.
The sprawling campground sits just three miles from Moraine State Park and four miles from McConnells Mill State Park, although once you arrive at the lush campground, you might never want to leave.
You can, of course, embark on an old-fashioned camping trip, where you pitch a tent in a quiet corner of the campground. RV parking is also available.
If you prefer the creature comforts, feel like royalty when you check into one of the log cabins or family cabins, each of which looks like it's stepped from the pages of a fairy tale.
Some of the cabins are even pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends along for the adventure.
While you'll be close to two state parks and other area attractions, you never have to leave the campground if you don't want to. After all, you'll find an abundance of amenities here.
Picnic by the water, or...
...spend the day lounging poolside then cooling off in the crystal clear water. The campground also hosts fun activities, including themed weekends throughout the summer.
Don't worry if you've forgotten anything at home. Head over to the campground general store and gift shop to stock up on everything you need.
