This Ohio Airbnb Is Like Stepping Onto the Set of Friends
If you think everything 90s is cool again, check out this Friends-themed Airbnb.
Are you ready for the episode in your life titled, “The One Where You Stay in the Friends Apartment?” Currently, everything 90s is cool again, and that includes the television series Friends. If you’ve watched all 10 seasons and find yourself still wanting more, you can stay in an Airbnb in Cincinnati, Ohio, that feels like walking onto the set of Friends. From the studio lighting on the ceiling to the turquoise kitchen cabinets to the view of Ugly Naked Guy’s apartment, every note hits perfectly.
This unique Airbnb is just one part of a fabulous Airbnb apartment complex in Cincinnati called Retro Retreats, which features four television-themed rental units. In addition to the Friends-themed Purple Suite, you can also rent the Creek Suite (a la the Schitt’s Creek iconic hotel room); the New York Suite (for Seinfeld fans—Kramer not included); or the Golden Suite (which perfectly recreates The Golden Girls’ sunny Miami home).
For the ultimate friends’ trip, I recommend booking the whole complex, which is available as one rental! Can you imagine the fun you’ll have touring each space and recreating your favorite scenes?
As you head up the staircase to reach this one-bedroom vacation rental, you’ll immediately be whisked away to the iconic New York City apartment we all grew to love. Luckily, you’ll be hauling your luggage instead of a couch. Pivot! Pivot!
Head inside to find the kitchen, which perfectly recreates the open-front turquoise cabinets, hanging rack with copper pots, mismatched table and chairs, and vintage refrigerator. I am most amazed by the fridge since that is an impressive level of detail to stay true to the original. Even the yellow curtain below the kitchen sink is included. However, unlike Chef Monica’s kitchen, this one has a dishwasher and a Keurig.
The living room is where this Airbnb takes things to the next level. A massive fake window seemingly looks out on the famous Friends view of the fire escape, with the brick buildings of Greenwich Village in the distance. Can you actually see Ugly Naked Guy himself? I'd definitely play this version of Where’s Waldo to see if I can spot him!
The Purple Suite apartment also takes notes from Friends for the bedroom, with a triple poster topping the king bed with familiar images. However, instead of having the original text of Monica’s prints, this one has quotes from the show and a nod to Cincinnati. Seriously, could it be any cuter? If you have kids or friends sleeping over, you’ll find a couple of fold-out beds in the living room.
Obviously, you’re going to want to get coffee with friends on this Friends-inspired vacation. I recommend Mom ‘N ‘Em Coffee for a cozy cafe. The Camp Washington location is in a 127-year-old building, and the brick wall behind the counter adds a Central Perk vibe. Or, head to Sugar n’ Spice Restaurant, where the retro touches aren’t a recreation. The Reading location has been serving a scrumptious breakfast since 1941.
Friends fans will absolutely love taking in all of the details of the Purple Suite. You could spend hours looking for all of the hidden nods to the show, from the iconic Cookie Time clock to the colorful umbrellas hanging in the foyer, just in case you want to recreate the opening credits. If you're ready to be “on a break,” check out the official Airbnb listing to see photos and to check availability for this oh-so-90s Cincinnati vacation rental!
