The craft beer industry has been exploding as of late, which is a dream come true for beer lovers. It seems like not too long ago your main options for brew were Budweiser and PBR, but now you can get all kinds of locally-brewed beer in New York. One beautiful microbrewery in the Empire State is Grist Iron Brewing Company. They're based out of Hector, near Ithaca, and produce small batches of top quality beer. The really unique thing about this brewing company in New York, though, is that they have an on site inn. That's right: you can tour the brewery, drink beer, then spend the night!
A microbrewery differs from a traditional brewery in that they produce fewer than 15,000 barrels of beer a year. Grist Iron was founded in 2015 and produces a variety of ales that are now being shipped all over New York.
Many people love to stop by Grist Iron just for the fun atmosphere. They've got corn hole, beer, weekly live music, and it's just a lovely place to hang out and meet people.
But what if we told you the fun didn't have to end after your meal and drinking was over? That's right, the brewery has a newly-renovated lodge where you can spend the night!
This is the only lodge in the Finger Lakes with an on-site microbrewery. Within 10 miles of your lodging, you'll find more than 30 breweries, wineries, and restaurants. It's right in the middle of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail area and makes for a great weekend trip in New York.
Not to mention, the views are absolutely incredible. The brewery overlooks Seneca Lake and you'll have a phenomenal front row seat to the sunset.
The lodge features nine simple but comfortable rooms, and even has dog-friendly rooms available so that the entire family can come along.
The lodge and brewery are open year-round, so this is a great weekend getaway for beer lovers in New York no matter the season.
