The Beaver Kill—also known as the Beaverkill or Beaverkill River—is a tributary of the Delaware River.
The Beaver Kill has been a destination for trout fishers ever since the beginning of the 19th century, and fishers can still enjoy it today. Every year, the New York State Department of Environment Conservation fills the river with 18,000 brown trout.
Around that time, it was also one of the most popular resort destinations in the entire country. The Beaverkill Valley Inn was one of those popular resorts, and it still exists today. In fact, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Along The Beaver Kill there is the covered Beaverkill Bridge, which crosses around the Beaverkill State Campground, which is also a spot beloved by fishers.
The preservation of The Beaver Kill was one of the first such endeavors America, and set these standard for many conservation efforts around the country.
There is plenty of fly fishing activity in the town of Roscoe. It’s located where The Beaver Kill and Willowemoc Creek intersect and has been called “Trout Town, USA.” In town, there are plenty of fly-shops and hotels available for fishers.
