With so many scenic views and secluded locations, New York makes for the most dreamy camping destination. Many of us are quick to head up north towards the Adirondacks to take ourselves away from it all, but you'll be delighted to try something different this year with a trip to the Western half of our state. Not far from both Rochester and Niagara Falls, there's a spectacular state park that has some of the most breathtaking campsites you'll ever enjoy.
Tucked away along the southern shores of Lake Ontario is an extraordinary gem of Niagara County.
Covering over 500 acres of land, Golden Hill State Park was acquired by New York State back in 1962.
The stunning state park's main feature is the Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse.
The historic lighthouse dates back to 1875, getting its name from the fact that it's located a mere 30 miles east of the Niagara River.
From here you'll have never-ending views of Lake Ontario that you'll never want to part with.
Over the years the park has been recognized for being one of our state's top outdoor destinations.
Drawing in visitors all year long, the park is beautiful to explore no matter what season you choose to visit.
But one of our favorite times to visit Golden Hills is during the summer when we can enjoy their waterfront campsites.
The park has plenty of picnic tables and pavilions, with nearly all of the campsites equipped with electric.
Those camping at this beautiful destination will be just steps away from the water, the perfect kind of white noise to help you fall asleep at night.
Perfect for all ages, you'll find amenities like a whimsical lighthouse playground, nature trails that will take you along the shores, a boat launch and wonderful fishing spots.
Who's ready to relax by the water during an unforgettable stay at Golden Hills State Park?
